HoD (Electronics & Communication Engineering)
The Electronics and Communications Department commenced in the year 2000 and now runs one undergraduate, one postgraduate program (M. Tech in MCNT) and Ph. D. program under WBUT. The programs offered by the department are the most sought after branch in Engineering by top WBJEE rank holders and other aspirants from across the country. All the three programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), NAAC and are compulsorily outcome based, structured to meet the needs of Industry and Research. The program contents are upgraded on a biannual basis with involvement from industry and reputed research institutions.
A total of 27 experienced faculty members all of whom are postgraduates and six of them with PhDs as well, support three core specializations (VLSI, Communication, Control) in the Department. Academics at UG and PG level is sustained with a staff to student ratio of 1:15. The curriculum includes a strong self-study component and mini projects at all levels so as to develop the students' independent analytical abilities. To support research across the specializations, an excellent infrastructure comprising of Software tools for materials, device and circuits Software Simulation environment (MATLAB, HFSS, ORIGIN etc.) and state of the art infrastructure including a semiconducting processing facility and characterization are available.
