As a part of the student development initiatives under TEQIP 1.2; IT 1st year students of Department of Information Technology, JIS College of Engineering have organized One day “Students’ Seminar” on 9th April, 2016 at R-304, Smart Class Room, JIS College of Engineering, under the guidance of their class coordinator. Here students presented different emerging technical topics as Android OS, Li-Fi, Big Data and HADOOP, Touch Screen Technology, Cloud Computing, etc.
As per hon’ble Judges’ recommendation, Pratiti Basu, Arghodip Sarkar, Tanusree Maji  and  Tania Das had secured of First Position  and Srabani Guha  recommended as ‘Best Presenter’.

Here students presented different emerging technical topics as Raspberry-Pi, Li-Fi, Virtual Reality, Steganography, Digital Signature, Intelligent System, Mobile Jamming Device, UMTS Network, Bluetooth, GSM Communication Technique, Cloud Computing Basic Problem and Solutions etc.
As per hon’ble Judges’ recommendation, Tanmoy Sen, Shilpi Das and Subhojit Sil have secured of First Position, presenting the topic, ‘Li-Fi’, and Ms. Nandani recommended as ‘Best Presenter’.

As a part of the faculty and student development initiatives under TEQIP 1.2; the department of Information Technology, JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani, hosted a seminar on ‘Aspect of Engineering & Technology in Current Era’ on 11th May, 2016, at IT Smart Class Room(R-304) of JIS College of Engineering. The seminar was mainly organized for the students of pre-final year and final year students. Mr. Puranjoy Chatterjee, Senior Project Manager, British Telecom had shared his view as well as how to appear in interview. The students were very much benefited attending the seminar as here the eminent speaker highlights the recent industry trends also.

This program is offered by the Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay, funded by National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, Govt., of India. The online examinations were conducted by IIT-Bombay remotely and organized at IIT-Bombay RESOURCE Center, JIS College of Engineering (only Three Star (***) Awarded RESOURCE Center of IIT-Bombay in West Bengal) on 10th October, 2015.

Prof. Pandit had covered different areas of bioinformatics and genomics. Here the students as well as staffs of this college got the opportunity to hear the eminent personality Prof. Rajib Mall, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Prof. Mall is the author of the famous book of ‘Software Engineering’. He delivered a brief overview of program testing.

Brief Report:


JIS College of Engineering is an academic center for Spoken-Tutorial project. The Academic Center code is WBN-00044. On 26th March 2014, IT Department has organized a Work Shop on C and C++ as a part of “The spoken Tutorial Project run by IIT Bombay” for 4th year students. The Project is funded by National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, and Govt. of India. 30 students participated in the program. The program was held at WEB TECHNOLOGY LAB (Lab-2) of JIS College of Engineering. Students learned through video tutorial which was designed by the Spoken Tutorial team of IIT Bombay. The work shop code was WC-8819.  On 11th april, 2014 same group of student gave the online test at INTERNET LAB   (Lab-5) which was conducted by IIT Bombay. The test code was TC-3774.

25 students scored more than 40% in the test and were certified by IIT-Bombay. They got the softcopy of the certificates instant.

Brief Report:


JIS College of Engineering is an academic center for Spoken-Tutorial project. The Academic Center code is WBN-00044. On 25th March 2014, IT Department has organized a Work Shop on JAVA as a part of “The spoken Tutorial Project run by IIT Bombay” for 4th year students. The Project is funded by National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, and Govt. of India. 30 students participated in the program. The program was held at WEB TECHNOLOGY LAB (Lab-2) of JIS College of Engineering. Students learned through video tutorial which was designed by the Spoken Tutorial team of IIT Bombay. The event was graced by the elegant presence of the speakers, Prof. Bhabatosh Chanda, Electronics and Communication sciences Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata and Prof. Dipti Prasad Mukherjee, Professor & Head, Electronics and Communication sciences Unit Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. The valedictory program was embraced with the presence Prof. A. Guha, Director, JIS Group, Prof. U. Bandyopadhya, Principal, JIS College of Engineering.

Outcome:
After completing the seminar all the participants have been enriched with knowledge and those are interested in the field of digital image processing they will also find a new arena of digital image processing.

As a part of the Faculty development initiatives under TEQIP 1.2; the department of Information Technology, JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani, hosted a one day national seminar on National Seminar on ‘Advanced Computation Techniques’ On 20th December, 2013. The event was graced by the elegant presence of the speakers, Prof. Subhansu Bandyopadhyay, Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Calcutta and Dr. Nabendu Chaki, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Calcutta. In this seminar, research area explored in the domain of Transactional Database and Design Analysis of Algorithm.
