Department of Computer Science and Engineering was founded with the primary objective of providing quality education in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, while addressing the problems of today and tomorrow. Right from its inception, the department has been offering excellent infrastructural facilities to aspire students to meet the growing demands of the industry. The aim of the department is to provide students both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of latest technology to make it easier for the employment in various sectors. The department of Computer Science & Engineering is well equipped with centralized laboratories having the latest configurations. The department is very actively pursuing research in diverse fields of Computer Science world ranging from Security, Mobile Applications, Wireless Networking, Machine Intelligence, Image Processing and lots more. Our students have participated in different Inter-Intra Institutional events and bagged different prizes. Faculty members are associated in programs such as, NPTEL, IIT-Bombay Spoken Tutorial Program, QEEE program, SWYAM program and lots more. The PG programme commenced in the year 2008 entitled M. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering. The UG programme has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation in the year 2006. The college received Autonomy from UGC in 2011. Vision

The Computer Science and Engineering Department at JIS College of Engineering will be a leader in computing innovation through excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, active research programs and the dissemination of knowledge. The Department will leverage both the international and interdisciplinary nature of computing.

Mission

The Department's mission is to :
(i)Provide students and faculty members with an open environment that encourage professional and personal growth.
(ii)Prepare students for flexible career paths and continuing advancement in computing through its academic programs.
(iii)Motivate and encourage the students to build a successful careers in the computing professions through flexible programs of study that can be adapted to support individual career goals.

Under Graduate

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) :
PEO 1 : Graduates will be engineering practitioners and leaders, who would assist to resolve industry's technological problems.
PEO 2 :Graduates will be engineering professionals, innovators or entrepreneurs engaged in technology development, technology deployment, or engineering system implementation in industry and research institute.
PEO 3 :Graduates will interact with their peers in other disciplines in industry and society and contribute to social awareness and the economic growth of the country.
PEO 4 :Graduates will be successful in pursuing higher studies in engineering or management and will pursue career paths in teaching or research.

Programme Outcomes (POs) :
PO 1: Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals in engineering specialization to get the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO 2: Identify, formulate, research literature and analyze complex engineering problems and formulate it to the substantiated conclusions of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
PO 3: Design solutions for complex engineering problems to meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations.
PO 4: Use the research-based knowledge and methodologies for interpretation of data and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.
PO 5: Use the appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools to predict and model the complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO 6: Apply contextual knowledge reasoning to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues towards consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice.
PO 7: Apply the engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge for sustainable development.
PO 8: Apply ethical principles to commit the professional ethics, responsibilities and norms for engineering practice.
PO 9: Effectively function as an individual, a member and leader in diverse group in multidisciplinary areas.
PO 10: Effectively communicate on complex engineering activities with the engineering community for effective reports and design documentation to make effective presentations and give and receive clear instructions.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs) :
A graduate of the Computer Science and Engineering Program will demonstrate :
PSO 1: Professional Skills: The ability to understand, analyze and develop computer programs in the areas related to algorithms, system software, multimedia, web design, big data analytics, and networking for efficient design of computer-based systems of varying complexity.
PSO 2: Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to apply standard practices and strategies in software project development using open-ended programming environments to deliver a quality product for business success.
PSO 3: Successful Career and Entrepreneurship: The ability to employ modern computer languages, environments, and platforms in creating innovative career paths to be an entrepreneur, and a zest for higher studies and research.

Post Graduate

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of M.Tech in CSE :
PEO 1 : To produce a proficient set of human resource whichwill bewell equipped to contribute to the research & development (R&D) effectively towards the advancement of Computer Science and Engineering applications and development ofinnovative systems and optimized solutions.
PEO 2 :To Enhance relevant skills and adapt new computing technologies for the attainment of professional excellence.
PEO 3 : To work collaboratively on multidisciplinary projects with higher level of both professional and ethical values within the organizationand the society as a whole.
PEO 4 : To impart knowledge and skills to analyze, design, develop, test and implement various software and engage in life-long learning.

Programme Outcomes (POs) :
After completion of PG degree student will be able :
PO 1: To apply the knowledge of mathematics, basic science, and computer science for evaluation, analysis, synthesis, modelling and integration of different technologies towards the development of novel computer systems for applied engineering.
PO 2: To provide optimized solutions by framing and realizing analytical tools for impending issues in the realm of computer science and engineering.
PO 3: To design and develop efficient systems to fulfill the basic requirements of the society, considering economic, environmental, and ethical issues.
PO 4: To work on complex problems through investigative and research oriented studies, and contribute efficiently to the advancement of technological knowledge and intellectual property.
PO 5: To use the latest technologies, skills, and modern engineering tools, including simulation and modeling, for addressing engineering problems.

The Computer Science and Engineering department has the certification of NPTEL, Swayam. Our college is a local chapter of this certification. The students are encouraged to enroll for the courses and many have also excelled in the examinations held after the completion of courses. For further details, visit Swayam.
